Instagram finally launches account switching

Instagram confirms the feature is part of the 7.15 update for both iOS and Android users

Starting this week, Instagram is finally rolling out the multiple account feature, one of the most requested features for a long time.

In a statement on Monday, Instagram confirmed the feature was part of the 7.15 update for both iOS and Android users but said it will begin to appear this week so it could still take a few days before all users see it.



"You can quickly and easily switch between multiple accounts on Instagram!" the company wrote on its page and Twitter.

To avail the new feature, users can go to their profile settings to add an additional account. From there, users will be able to tap their username at the top of your profile to switch between accounts.

Once the multiple accounts are added, users will be able to see their profile pictures appear in places throughout the app to enable you to know which account you are using currently.



The new feature will do away with the lengthy process of signing out and singing in again for switching accounts, which will come handy for people who use more than one account on the photo sharing app.

Although the feature is of no or little use for casual Instagram users, it will have a much larger impact for the young community who have multiple accounts on Instagram.

Also, the new switching feature will benefit the company as it will have a better chance to monetise its user base something the company has already done lately by extending its video ads to 60 seconds to have more TV ad revenues.

Instagram fiends took to Twitter to rejoice the much awaited feature.
