Gigi Hadid gets runway masterclass from Naomi Campbell

LOS ANGELES: According to reports, British supermodel Naomi Campbell helped Gigi Hadid embrace her “weird” walk by giving the budding model a catwalk master class,  prior to last year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Hadid got a much-needed confidence boost, following the “terrifying” experience with Campbell.

“So I go to her hotel and we end up practicing walking in the hallway of the hotel. Italian families were coming out to watch and Naomi was just like, ‘Don’t look at them! Keep walking! They are your audience’,” recalled Hadid. “She also said, ‘Don’t apologise – just don’t do it! You are perfect the way you are. Everyone said my walk was weird too,’” she added.



The 20-year-old Hadid further revealed the details of the impromptu lesson. “The elevator would open and the waiter would come out but Naomi would say, ‘Don’t look at him, he’s your audience, do a spin and keep going.’ It was terrifying, walking in front of this Italian grandmother and her kid.” But fortunately for Hadid, all the hard work paid off. “After getting a lot of different opinions about my past Fashion Weeks, I went into the VS show thinking that maybe I am different, but it’s going to be fine,” she said. “If people don’t like how I walk, then they don’t have to watch.”
