The Jungle Book's official trailer has finally been released and fans of the famous cartoon, as well as movie enthusiasts, are already gearing up for the suspense-packed film.

The thrilling two-and-a-half minute clip starts with Mowgli tearing through the jungle, running from a black panther and a pack of wolves.

False alarm! It's only Bagheera training Mowgli for the survival of the fittest.

But for what? Shere Khan.

The lion's roar is enough to send shivers down one's spine as he bellows, "Man is forbidden!" (in the jungle, of course).

As the trailer progresses, we see who Mowgli's mentors and true friends are and which evils he has to protect himself against.

Half-way through, nostalgia strikes as the video plays its own instrumental spin on the childhood favourite, The Bare Necessities from the 1960s animated film.

Overall, the adventure in the trailer will leave you wanting more. We'll let you watch it and decide for yourself.

Here's an interesting fact you probably didn't notice. The only actor featured in the film is Indian-American child actor Neel Sethi.

And Scarlett Johansson has already won fans over with her convincing voice as Kaa.

Based on the 1967 Walt Disney film -- which was originally inspired by Rudyard Kipling's book (1894) of the same name -- The Jungle Book (2016) is a CGI live-action remake of the earlier version.

If you didn't already know the plot of the film, The Jungle Book focuses on Mowgli (Neel Sethi, an orphan Indian boy), who has grown up in the jungle, and been raised by a pack of wolves. When his life is threatened by a Bengal tiger (Shere Khan), the boy's companions (Bagheera the black panther and Baloo the bear) accompany Mowgli on a journey of self-discovery.
