Ashraf was shot five times

RAWALPINDI: A 35-year-old man was shot dead, allegedly over a land dispute, in the Sadiqabad area of Rawalpindi on Saturday.

The shooting incident took place in a repair shop at Trolly Adda, creating panic in the market. Rescue 1122 shifted the body to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for autopsy. The deceased was identified as Ashraf, a native of Kotli Sattian.

According to Sub Inspector (SI) Muhammad Zubair, who is posted at Sadiqabad Police Station, four persons including Ashraf were sitting at the repair shop discussing a land dispute, when a heated argument broke out. Following the argument, a man from the group opened fire at Ashraf, who was killed on the spot.

A 30-bore pistol was used in the shooting, the officer said.

The shooter managed to flee from the scene. The identity of the shooter was not available when this report was filed.

A doctor at DHQ told The Express Tribune the deceased was shot five times. The police had not registered a murder case till the filing of this report.
