FAISALABAD: The National Textile University (NTU) will soon initiate a six-month course to help members of the Faisalabad Dyes and Chemical Traders’ Group effectively run their businesses, NTU Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dean Tanveer Hussain said on Thursday.  The dean made the remarks at a one-day workshop organised for the benefit of the group’s members. Hussain said the diploma course would be initiated after securing the approval of the varsity’s rector and BoGs. Rashid Sheikh, The group’s chairman, had earlier called for the introduction of such a programme at the workshop. Hussain said he was confident that those who enrolled for the programme would boost trade in dyes and chemicals and earn precious foreign exchange. Munir lauded the varsity on the occasion. He said over 80 per cent of its graduates were involved in running the textile industry in Pakistan and abroad. He said the sector was the chief consumer of dyes and chemicals.

Academics Waseem Ibrahim, Rashid Masood and Munir Ashraf also spoke at the workshop. They stressed the need to quickly initiate the diploma programme. A number of NTU teachers and the group’s members participated in the workshop which concluded with the distribution of certificates among the participants by Hussain.
