ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Monday it would go for a countrywide protest on February 6 against the recent government decisions, including privatisation and an increase in gas and electricity prices.

The party says it is going to be the first nationwide protest on anything other than the electoral rigging. The decision was taken after a meeting which was presided over by the PTI chairman Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence.

Imran would also address a press conference on Tuesday [today] where he is likely to speak about the government policies as well as ECP which has rejected Aleem Khan’s allegations on by-election in NA-122.

According to a statement, the PTI leadership decided to protest on February  6 in all districts against the growing economic oppression.

PIA needs partial privatization at least as do other bloated government companies. Gas prices should raise so that there is adequate tax when petrol and import taxes are down.
