HYDERABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is prepared to deal with the fallout from Lyari (Peoples) Amn Committee leader Uzair Baloch’s arrest, the Sindh government’s information adviser, Moula Bux Chandio, said.

“We are ready to contend with any statement or court matter linked to the arrest of Uzair Baloch,” Chandio said.

Journey of a failed politician, a successful gangster

He was speaking at the 26th death anniversary of Sindh Peoples Students Federation (SPSF) leader Aftab Alam Shoro in Matiari district on Sunday.

The Rangers declared Uzair’s arrest from Karachi on January 29. The top gangster from Lyari – a PPP stronghold in Karachi – has reportedly confessed to committing crimes on the directions of PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari.

“This is nothing new for the PPP. In every government, PPP leaders are browbeaten, but the party always faces these challenges,” asserted Chandio.

Regarding the links of the crime boss with the PPP leadership, Chandio said, Uzair belongs to Lyari which is to be a stronghold of the PPP.

Uzair was a prominent personality of the constituency, but owing to his criminal activities PPP had disowned him, the adviser said.

Talking about the extension of the policing powers of the Rangers, he said the matter will be resolved after due consideration. Some elements always try to make the issue controversial. He credited the paramilitary force for being instrumental in restoring peace to Karachi with cooperation of the police.
