He was speaking at the launch of the Pakistan Institute of Management (PIM) training calendar 2016.

Zia said his company allocated a specific amount for each individual for training and development via an online portal. The higher the individual scored the more points he gained, which were then used by him to take part in other better trainings, including international ones.
“The system worked so well for us that we replicated it in other regions,” said Zia, adding that organisations that had efficient performance evaluating systems tended to grow more.
Meanwhile, Pak-Arab Refinery Corporate Affairs General Manager Shah M Saad Hussain was of the view that a strong training and analysis system for employees was a must for any company.
“Performance management system does help organisation, but it only helps when the HR department understands the actual need of the company,” noted the First Women Bank Head of HR Ayesha Menai.
“Fear stagnates organisations, this poses a big challenge for the management,” she added, while speaking on the challenges the managers’ face in developing countries’ public sector.
PIM is going to resume its flagship two-week ‘Advance Management Programme’ after a long gap.
Moreover, a Master’s degree programme in ‘Engineering Business Management’ will be launched this year in which students will have an option to gain a foreign degree. Most of the faculty members belong to universities in the United Kingdom. They will come to Pakistan for the programmes.
PIM, a public sector organisation, was established in 1954 to provide management training and development, and has so far trained over 150,000 managers from leading private and public sector organisations.
