Earthquake jolts Lahore, other parts of Punjab

The quake measured 4.0 on the richter scale, with its epicentre near Nankana Sahb, Met department said

LAHORE: Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Punjab, including Lahore and surrounding areas on Wednesday.

"The quake measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre near Nankana Sahib," Muhammad Qamar, an official of the Pakistan Meteorological Department told The Express Tribune.

People left their homes and offices in panic.

Earthquake jolts Islamabad, parts of K-P

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, the official added.

No casualties were reported.

The earthquake comes weeks after an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the richter scale shook Islamabad and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkwa.

Hassan | 8 years ago | Reply It seems to me that it was not an earthquake at all; but a shockwave. There was just a very strong tremor that lasted for just 1-2 seconds and everything came back to normal after 2 seconds. Allah knows the best

omer | 8 years ago | Reply The quake measured 4.0 on the richter scale, it was to low. whereas, in Islamabad, we have been facing earthquake of magnitude more than 6.0 to 6.9 since last October 26, 2015 .
