According to the Prosecution Department, on November 19, 2015, Abida Bibi, a resident of Chak 147-JB, was on her way to a market when Saifullah accosted her. He beat her up and then carried her to a nearby house where he attacked her with acid.
ATC Judge Raja Parviaz Akhtar sentenced Saifullah to 28 years imprisonment and fined him Rs2 million. If Saifullah is unable to pay the fine, he will have to spend another four years in prison. Saifullah was convicted under Sections 336 of the Pakistan Penal Code (causing injury which caused loss of function) and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Separately, Sargodha Additional District and Session Judge Ameer Mukhtar Gondal on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for committing murder in a Shahpur police precinct. According to the Prosecution Department, on December 29, 2013, Mazhar and his accomplices Javed and Sikandar, residents of Shahpur city, murdered Sultan to avenge an old rivalry.
Shahpur police had registered case against the suspects and presented a challan in the court. The court sentenced Mazhar to 25 years in prison and fined him Rs500,000. His alleged accomplices were given benefit of doubt and were acquitted.
Separately, Kasur District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Younus Aziz on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for a murder committed in a Raja Jang police precinct. The judge also ordered him to pay the victim’s family Rs300,000.
According to the Prosecution Department, Amir, son of Israel, killed a man also named Amir in 2011. They had had an altercation over where they could graze their goats.
Another suspect in the case, Haider Ali, was acquitted after he was given the benefit of doubt.
