He said this, while chairing a meeting of steering committee for extension of the Federal Government Services Hospital (FGSC) popularly known as the Polyclinic Hospital, here on Thursday.
Chaudhary directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to complete the design for the expansion and re-construction of the hospital within the minimum possible time so that actual construction work on the project could start.
The steering committee was briefed that the Polyclinic had to pay a total amount of Rs44.848 million to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for transfer of Argentina Park land of which Rs5 million had already been released to the civic agency through the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR).
It was told that the remaining Rs39 million would be released within the next 10 days through re-appropriation, approved by the Finance Division.
The Argentina Park Land will be formally transferred to the Polyclinic administration on full payment of the amount.
The PWD chief engineer briefed the meeting that the design of the hospital would be completed in 60 days after holding a competition among the shortlisted firms.
The said design shall be submitted to the steering committee for final approval. After approval of the design by the steering committee, final award of the contract will be made in the second phase.
The minister appointed Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Naru as the focal person for the project and directed him to submit a weekly progress report on the project.
He said that the project was very important for provision of better healthcare facilities to the residents of Islamabad and its adjoining areas and “therefore no delay in this regard will be tolerated.”
He said that the project should be completed within the deadline and the quality of work shall not be compromised.
