Pakistan on Tuesday conducted successful flight test of indigenously developed Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) “Ra’ad”, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The Ra’ad ALCM has a range of 350km, enabling the country to achieve air-delivered strategic standoff capability on land and at sea, with highly advanced guidance and navigation system, which ensures strong accuracy.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have congratulated the scientists and engineers for their outstanding achievement on the successful flight test.

How often the country will keep on testing Raad cruise missile successfully before it is declared operational? Perhaps until F16’s are delivered?

Congratulation to the team which developed this cruise missile, Any indigenous development of armament means less dependence on foreign countries and will contribute toward deterrence of attacks from any country specially from our eastern neighbor which has incorporated Cold Start military strategy toward Pakistan. How’s a cruise missile contribute to “peace in the region”? Cruise missiles have been around since the 70’s – they are very spendy and aren’t a practical weapon in your fight against terrorism. Recommend
