Google asked Indians to capture how technology is changing lives and the result is amazing

The feature-length film, screened during Sundar Pichai's keynote at Google For India, will be released this year

A powerful video, made by Google India, captures moments from a day in the lives of Indians to show how technology is bringing about a change in the developing nation.

What Pakistan can learn from India

The video, which was screened during Sundar Pichai's keynote at Google For India, displays scenes from villages, urban cities and citizens, who speak about the benefits of using the internet in a country where only 33% of the total population of approximately 1.27 billion are internet users. It builds a contrast between agro-based villages and metropolitan cities to show the progress that India is making.

One of the participants says, “I am a citizen of a very great and wise country and I am proud of it." In another clip, a young boy explains how he and his friends use his neighbour’s WiFi, showing the eagerness of the country’s citizens to reap the benefits of the internet.

An old man shares his thoughts on the transformation taking place in India. He says, “The pace at which our India is moving, I could have never imagined it.”

“It’s amazing how a simple internet connection can change peoples’ lives,” says a web-developer.

India In A Day, produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap and directed by Richie Mehta shows how India is evolving with the use of technology. It conveys the message of using technology to develop and prosper.

The feature-length film will be released this year.

G. Din | 8 years ago | Reply @John B: That is quite an oration. All this WAS possible because of the extraordinary patience and tolerance and farsightedness of the majority Hindus. As time goes by, that tolerance and patience and farsightedness has to diminish because of the lessons History has taught us which you see already happening. India will ultimately come out as a self-respecting sovereign country where the majority will not be a serfdom where the minorities overlord the majority like any other country in the world. We stayed as one nation because the underlying bond that bind us is Hinduism, north to south, east to west even though we are multilingual, even multiethnic. That is the only bond that kept us together over a 1000-year slavery under various barbarians. We fell to others because of our own complacency. Not any more! Lessons have been learned and internalised.

John B | 8 years ago | Reply What makes this vast land of diverse people a nation ? If only one can tell, there will be no borders and wars in this world. Billion plus people, multilinguistic, multiethnic, cohabitation of rich and poor, multi religious, 1000 political parties, men and women in work force with their own problems and social obligations, children walk to school as pilgrim, liberal social outlook, thriving markets from malls to the sidewalk, mosques, churches, and temples on the same street working like a clock work with entire nation starting the day with their respective religious prayers, voracious appetite for art and literature, the only nation where communists are elected, fanatics and liberals sit on the same table and argue yet share the ride, distinction of religious beiieves are semantics, and so on. A nation full of contradiction yet in harmony with itself. The entire society runs under an unwritten yet well understood social contract. India challenges every conventional political science definition of a nation. Who are these people and what makes / made them a nation?
