ISLAMABAD:

Irked by the government’s unresponsive attitude, Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (Poepa) announced to impose a ban Friday on sale and purchase of overseas work visa across the country.

Addressing a press conference, Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal, Chairman Poepa, said that the association would announce uniform fee visas and all additional expenditures would be banned. He added that free visas would be granted to the applicants seeking to go abroad for employment.

He said that the Philippines had introduced a policy of free visa and Pakistan would follow suit, adding that promoters would charge only the service fee. “Membership of all those promoters charging additional cost will be cancelled,” he warned.

He complained that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Immigration Bureau were not cooperating with the promoters.
