KARACHI:
The city traffic police have announced to impose heavy fines on vehicles plying without headlights, rear-lights and indicators. A notification by the traffic police said a campaign against vehicles devoid of such lights will kick off from January 22. DIG Traffic Amir Ahmed Shaikh’s reader Muhammad Idrees told The Express Tribune that there are several laws under which they could impose these fines. He said Rs500 is the fine for a vehicle plying without rear-lights, headlights and indicators. Under Section 99 of the Sindh Motor Vehicles Ordinance, he said they can also impose a fine of Rs1,000 or arrest the driver. “A vehicle without a headlight or indicator is not only dangerous for the driver but also other vehicles,” he said.
