ISLAMABAD: Senate standing committee on interior on Thursday emphasised that the Frontier Constabulary (FC) should be equipped with modern weapons and provided adequate funding to help the paramilitary force fight terrorists. FC Commandant Liaqat Ali Khan told the committee that Frontier Constabulary has the cardinal task of policing the frontiers that separate the settled districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tribal areas. However, the corps has also been entrusted with controlling law and order and providing security to VIPs, diplomats and government installations. The commandant said that more than 345 FC personnel have embraced martyrdom and over 585 injured. The battle against militancy has become tougher for us than ever before. We need proper funding and facilitation," he said.
