Supreme Court on Thursday directed a key accused in Mudaraba scandal to return Rs54.5 million to the affected people in four days.
A full bench of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali, deferred hearing on Mufti Muhammad Saqib’s bail application till January 19.
NAB has filed a reference against Saqib on the complaint of four people from whom he had obtained money on compound interest.
The suspect sought bail from the top court after his requests were turned down by the high court and an accountability court. Saqib’s counsel contended that his client had borrowed money from to build a commercial plaza but the NAB arrested him and involved in the Mudaraba scandal.
NAB counsel informed the court that the reference was filed after an inquiry proved the allegation against him.
