Intelligence tip: Terrorist involved in Pishtakhara attack arrested

Police say suspect was caught at Board Bus Stop on Jamrud Road in the city

The Special Police Unit in Peshawar succeeded in arresting a terrorist wanted for his alleged involvement in an attack on Pishtakhara police in 2015.


According to a press release issued by the Peshawar unit on Tuesday, Hameedullah, also known as Hamzaullah, from Jalalabad, Afghanistan was arrested after the police received an intelligence tip-off.


He was caught at Board Bus Stop on Jamrud Road in the city by the special unit team. Arms and ammunition was confiscated from his possession.


The statement issued said Hameedullah was involved in an attack on police personnel in Academy Town in September 2015, which resulted in the death of Constable Ajmal Khan. Hameedullah was shifted to an unidentified location for further interrogation.


On September 11, 2015 a policeman was killed and three cops were injured in an exchange of fire on Sufaid Dheri Road, within the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara police station.
