Distance education: US officials review AIOU project

Its community and research-based academic programmes.

A delegation of American academicians and officials visited Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Tuesday to review a State Department funded project upon its conclusion.


A press release states that the Pakistan Distance Education Enhancement Programme (PDEEP) was a three-year collaborative project between San Jose State University and AIOU to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of distance education in both countries.

The delegation included Project Director Mark Adams, Prof Jason Laker, Prof Muhammad Saleem and State Department official Richard Boyum.

Regarding the project, they said that it had been successful in promoting capacity-building of academic staff and students.

Adams termed their talks with the vice-chancellor productive and commended the university’s education standard, students, and particularly, its community and research-based academic programmes.
