NEW DELHI: A video secretly filmed by an Indian man -- apparently showing his wife beating his elderly mother -- has gone viral and led police to arrest the wife.
Suspecting his wife of regularly abusing the 70-year-old, Sandeep Jain installed a CCTV camera in his mother's bedroom, telling police he intended to catch Sangeeta Jain red-handed.
The minute-long video shows Raj Rani Jain wrapped in a quilt in bed when a woman attacks her, hitting her repeatedly and dragging her by her hair.

Sangeeta Jain was arrested after her husband complained to police on Monday in Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh state.
Raj Rani Jain told reporters in hospital her daughter-in-law slapped her and hit her with stones. "She was abusing me throughout the assault," she said.
Police have begun an investigation following the release of the video, which sparked anger on social media, with many demanding the accused woman be severely punished.

"We have recovered the video and questioned the woman. She will remain in custody," Dharm Veer Singh, a senior police officer in Bijnor, told AFP.
"There is a history of violence between the accused woman and her in-laws. We will find out the truth," he said.

Sangeeta denies the allegations, claiming the video is fabricated and accusing her husband of trying to frame her.
She has also filed a domestic violence case against her in-laws and the couple are seeking a divorce.

t know that what the bahu did with her saas in this video is right or not (since Im not their relative) but I will talk about our society in general.Now its time to stand up for our rights against those individuals who wants to ruin our lives with their violence and strictness.Even if its against the norms of the society,but if someone violently abuses us than we have to tackle him back and go far as we can.If a saas abuses a bahu than it is fine,but if the bahu do the same with saas than it is illegal.If a teacher violently beats up a student than its ok,but if the student do the same with teacher then hes behind the bars.If a policeman\warden violently beats up a citizen than its his right,but if a citizen do the same with policeman\warden than hes in a big trouble.If a father violently beats up his children than its healthy,but if the children do the same with the cruel father than they are hanged (like it is shown in Shoaib Mansoor`s movie Bol). But not now in the 21st Century.Now we HAVE to change these pre-historic norms and stand for any type of violence against us,and go far as possible to achieve our aim.We have to stand against violence and cruelty like the French did against the cruel monarchy in 1789.We have to stand like a 'Alif' to fight with everyone and to create our own self.Only then we can survive and progress.
