JAMRUD:

At least 10 oil tankers loaded with fuel for US-led Nato troops entered Afghanistan through the border town of Torkham in Khyber Agency Monday morning.

After a break of around six months, Nato troops camping across the border in Afghanistan received fuel supplies though Pakistan. All the way through from Peshawar to Torkham, the tankers were escorted by law-enforcement personnel.

Transporters said all these oil tankers reached Hayatabad markets in the early hours of Monday with heavy contingents of police. After entering Khyber Agency from Hayatabad, the vehicles were escorted by the political administration along with the Frontier Corps.

Since 2005, Nato supplies via Pakistan remained under the threat of militants. A large number of tankers were attacked, costing many truckers and helpers their lives.

On November 26, 2011, Nato troops allegedly attacked a Pakistan security forces check post at Salala, Mohmand Agency. This resulted in the suspension of Nato supplies for some months.
