Protesting for employment: Swabi DC orders release of 32 labourers

SWABI: Swabi deputy commissioner Matiullah Khan has issued orders to the district administration to release 32 arrested labourers, formerly employed by a tobacco company. Matiullah issued these directives in a meeting with the district nazim Ameerur Rehman and Awami National Party member Muhammad Ishfaq Khan in Swabi on Sunday. Recently tobacco company Phillip Morris dismissed 141 employees. The sacked staff protested for several days and blocked roads, demanding their jobs back. At one such protest, the district administration took action and arrested 32 labourers. Later, they were shifted to Central Prison DI Khan.
