The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which has not yet joined the Pir Pagara-led grand opposition alliance against the Pakistan Peoples Party, has said it will oppose any undemocratic change of government in Sindh.
"We will not support any move which amounts to the undemocratic removal of the elected Sindh government," PTI's Sindh organiser and MNA Arif Alvi said while talking to journalists in Nawabshah on Sunday.
But, he added, his party will welcome an in-house change in the Sindh Assembly brought about by elected lawmakers. Alvi led a rally from Sehwan, Jamshoro to Nawabshah in support of sugarcane growers who are involved in a legal battle with the provincial government over the official crop rate.
The PTI has announced support for the farmers of Sindh, who are demanding Rs185 per 40 kilogrammes of sugarcane. The government has notified a Rs172 per 40kg rate which growers alleged is aimed to favour the sugar mill owners. The rally comprised hundreds of vehicles and traveled over 90 kilometres.
