Maulana Nisar target killing: Driver of killers’ car identified by witnesses

The accused is an alleged member of the banned Sipah-e-Muhammad.

KARACHI: The alleged killer of Maulana Nisar, who was killed on August 18, 2010, has been identified by two witnesses in court on Tuesday.

Syed Sikander Rizvi, an alleged member of banned militant organisation Sipah-e-Muhammad, was presented before the judicial magistrate central, Ahsan A Malik, in an identification parade by the CID police. Witnesses Faisal and Imran identified the culprit.

The accused told the court that he was driving the car which was used in the murder. His accomplice, Shafat Hussain, was the one who fired at Maulana Nisar, he added. After the parade, the court sent Rizvi to jail on a judicial remand till January 20.

Earlier, the police presented alleged Sipah-e-Muhammad militants, Tanweer Hussain Naqvi alias Kashif, Abrar Hussain Naqvi, Syed Pervez Zaidi, Rafat Raza alias Jehangir, Hussain Abbas alias Faisal, Syed Sikander Rizvi and Syed Ali Mehdi, before different courts. All courts sent the accused to jail on a judicial remand till January 20. Meanwhile, the court also asked for challans issued in these cases.

The FIRs against the accused have been registered in the following police stations: New Karachi Industrial Area, Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Mominabad and others. The police arrested the accused from Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal and seized weapons from their possession.
