JP Morgan Tournament: Zaman squanders chance to progress

Pakistan squash player, ranked 68th in the world, exits New York event after first round

KARACHI: Farhan Zaman missed a perfect opportunity to cause another upset in the ongoing $150,000 JP Morgan Tournament of Champions as he lost 3-1 to world number 14 Max Lee of Hong Kong in the first main round match in New York, US.

Prior to appearing in the main round, Zaman had caused two upsets in the qualifying round and looked set to stun Lee after he won the first game.

Zaman was also leading the second game initially, but let his advantage slip, which allowed Lee to get back into the match.



Lee then won the game as well to lead 2-1. Zaman then had a chance to level the match as he led in the fourth game, but Lee persevered and won by overall scores of 9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-9.
