The K-P Assembly Education Standing Committee held its eighth meeting at the provincial assembly secretariat on Thursday in which various issues faced by the education sector were discussed.

According to the document available with The Express Tribune, it was decided all information technology teachers appointed through the National Testing Services (NTS) on a contractual basis would be made permanent soon. The education department officials told committee members they sent a summary regarding the change in the teachers’ status to the K-P financial department.

Education officials also shared new teachers were appointed on Sunday—also via NTS—which means closed schools across the province could soon become functional. They said the step would also solve the shortage of 300 teachers in Charsadda district.

Standing Committee Chairperson MPA Muhammad Arif chaired the session and said missing facilities in schools across K-P need to be made available. Arif directed the education department to resolve the issue on a priority basis. The department and district education officers assured the committee all these issues would be resolved soon.

According to the document, at the meeting, Elementary and Secondary Education Special Secretary Muhammad Atifur Rehman informed the committee various development projects were under way in K-P.
