PESHAWAR: IGP Nasir Khan Durrani awarded intelligence, operational, investigation and mobile forensic unit officials of the city police for their action against militants, extortionists, kidnappers and target killers. The ceremony was held at Central Police Office on Thursday (today).

Led by SSP Operations Dr Mian Saeed from the front, these units dismantled networks of terrorists, kidnappers, extortionists and target killers.

The success

At least 272 hard-core criminals including terrorists, kidnappers, extortionists, members of banned organisations and target killers were jailed, and 500 kilogrammes of explosive material, several suicide jackets, arms and ammunition, mortar shells, stolen vehicles and Rs0.4 million fake currency were recovered.

After these achievements, crimes, particularly terror attacks, dwindled down to a great extent in Peshawar.

The ceremony

Addressing the participants on the occasion, Durrani commended the leading role of Saeed and the untiring efforts of his team. He said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police has no parallel in valour, bravery and honesty, and should be the role model for the whole country.

“K-P police has been delivering its best in the most unfavourable and volatile conditions,” he said. “Even though death looms over their heads, these people exhibit unprecedented courage and boldness in the line of duty.” Durrani directed them to tighten the noose around the neck of the most wanted outlaws and to take up the scale of its success to its zenith.

He awarded SSP Operations Dr Mian Saeed, Counter Kidnapping Cell DSP in charge Saifullah Khan, constables Munir, Abdur Rahman, Bukhari Shah and Hamid, ATS team inspector Ziaullah Khan, Imran Khan, CIA Inspector Pervez Khan and sub-inspector Attaullah, DSB in charge Qazi Arif Khan, HC Ziaul Haq, SPOs Adnan and Muhammad Ramzan.
