The first ever: Art, photography show opens at AIOU

Over 80 pieces of paintings and photographs by the students is on display

A three-day art and photographic exhibition was inaugurated by noted writer and PTV Chairman Attaul Haq Qasmi, at the main campus of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Wednesday.


Over 80 pieces of paintings and photographs by the students were put on display.



University Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui, speaking on the occasion said that the exhibition aimed at exploring and celebrating the talents of the students. It was also an attempt to promote and encourage new trends in the field of art.

He said that negotiations were being made with National College of Arts (NCA) to start a fine arts’ programme in the university.

Principal National College of Arts, Lahore, Prof Dr Murtaza Jafari lauded the university’s efforts in promoting culture and assured his support for launching fine arts programmes in the institute.

The artists whose works have been put on display included Ijaz Ahmed, Faisal Azeem, Nasira Aqeel, Rabia Mukhtar, Khalid Javed Yousfi, Muhammad Shoaib, Mohsin Kazmi, Sadia Rahat Saeed and Shahnam Irshad Ahmed.
