Appreciation: CPEC termed lifeline project for K-P

Official says project will give boost to business activities

PESHAWAR: Department of Commerce and Industry, Government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) financial analyst, Khalid Jan, said on Tuesday the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a lifeline project for the province that would not only support industrial estates but would also give immense boost to business and commerce activities.

“All industrial estates of K-P falling along the western route will either directly or indirectly benefit from the CPEC following completion of the route and will give enormous boost to trade and business activities besides generating employment opportunities for people,” he told APP.

He said industrial estates at Hattar in Haripur, Marble City in Mansehra spread over 82 acres, Rashakai industrial estate in Nowshera being built over 1,000 acres and Gadoon in Swabi would largely benefit from the western route.

“Work on the Hattar industrial estate is in full swing while the Marble City and Rashakai industrial estate were approved by the K-P government for which land is being acquired.”

Jan said focus was on rehabilitation and revamping of sick units at the Gadoon industrial estate. “Another industrial estate on the border of Karak and Kohat has been proposed.”

Jan added link roads would be established to connect those industrial estates that were not located on the western route. He said CPEC was not one road project, but a multi-sectorial framework covering various areas including energy, infrastructure, Gwadar and industrial sectors in the country.

He said the construction of CPEC’s western route along with all required facilities would accelerate pace of development in the province.
