Acting veteran Khaled Ahmed expected to direct a major theatre production in 2016
To kickstart year by restaging plays ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Hatim Tai’
KARACHI:
Having just stepped into 2016, the National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa) is all set to take centre stage yet again. With more than a handful of performances already lined up for the coming few months, Napa has chosen to start the year by revisiting two productions staged towards the latter part of 2015 – Khel Khel Mein and Hatim Tai.
Both of these performances were part of the Young Director’s Festival and will be staged again this month for a spell of five days each in January. While the academy may have chosen to start the year with previous productions, they are already planning to stage new performances as well.

One of the plays being touted as a major production is expected to be helmed by Napa faculty member Khaled Ahmed. “Khaled Ahmed is constantly travelling and should his schedule permit, we will hopefully be staging his play in February,” artistic director Zain Ahmed told The Express Tribune.
“Initially Khaled Ahmed was going to perform this play in January but he was busy with his acting commitments and other projects,” he added.

Zain further added that plans for the International Theatre Festival are also underway and is expected to take place in March-April. The plays Khel Khel Mein and Hatim Tai have been directed by Napa alumnus Akbar Islam and Farhan Alam.
