KARACHI:

A protest was held on Sunday against the recent execution of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al Nimr, among 46 others, in Saudi Arabia over terrorism charges.

Jafaria Alliance Pakistan chief, Allama Abbas Kumaili, and his supporters held a press conference protesting the executions. "[al Nimr's] execution is the start of a sectarian war by Saudi Arabia," he claimed.

The 34-country military coalition, which Saudi Arabia formed to fight terrorism last month, is a sectarian coalition, as countries like Iraq, Iran and Syria are not included in it, claimed Kumaili. He demanded the Pakistani government leave the alliance in protest.

"[AlNimr] was a true fighter and was fighting against the brutality of Muslims across the world," he added.
