DERA GHAZI KHAN:

Dera Ghazi Khan police on Thursday arrested a man pretending to be a Pakistan Army major

A police spokesman said Government Girls High School Number 2 Principal Jamila Rehman had moved a complaint through school clerk Iqbal Qaserani that a man had come to the school on Thursday and told her that he was Pakistan Army major and worked for an intelligence agency.

Jamila said the ‘major’ had told her that he was part of the DCO’s schools monitoring team. She said he had asked her to show identification and educational documents of the staff, saying that some women teaching at the school were not government employees. She said he had then left, promising to return on Friday with the DCO. She said on Friday, the man had come again and asked for the documents. She said when she asked him to make an inspection report, he had signed on the visitors’ book and left. Police said they had watched the CCTV footage and arrested the man a few hours later.

They said he had been identified as Attiqur Rehman, son of a political leader in the area. Police said they were investigating why he had visited the school.
