High-level meeting: Police officials directed to check sensitive places

IGP said personal visits be made, security measures be looked at

PESHAWAR: Police has been directed to chalk out a comprehensive security plan to protect sensitive and vulnerable establishments and places in the province.

The directives were made by IGP Nasir Khan Durrani at a high-level meeting of district police officers at City Police Office in Peshawar on Friday.

The IGP asked the headquarters additional IGPs, elite force investigation commandant among others to personally visit the sensitive and vulnerable establishments and places in their jurisdiction, and review their security condition in case the arrangements are incomplete.

Durrani also asked the officials concerned to take photos of the areas that are not properly secured and issue 15-day warning to address the problem. “The final report will be submitted to the CPO by January 10.”   The officials present at the meeting were also directed to carry out joint search and strike operations, in collaboration with the army, in urban and rural areas. He suggested the operations should be carried out in a planned manner on a format of six weeks and the target should be achieved in a professional manner.

For citizens

For VIP movements, the IGP said, a proper plan should be worked out, keeping in consideration the public’s convenience so that traffic flow remains smooth and necessary security is also ensured.

Participants were also told to make a contingent of eight to 10 officials of the elite force that could be deputed in civil dress at hospitals in cases of emergency.
