PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday served a show-cause notice to the director general of excise and taxation, asking him to file a detailed reply on awarding a contract for number plates to an illegally registered company. The case was heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Qaiser Rasheed and Justice Syed Afsar Shah. The petition was filed by the chief executive of A2Z E/Payment Company Shakirullah through his lawyer Nasir Yousafzai. Yousafzai told the bench the excise department had published an advertisement to prepare and supply number plates. He argued A2Z E/Payment Company also participated in the bid along with other companies but despite having the lowest rate, the contract was not given to it.
