Health campaign: Saving a child from diarrhoea every minute

RB and Plan will cover 600 households in Dhori village, Sargodha

Press Release December 30, 2015

KARACHI: Reckitt Benckiser (RB) and Plan International Pakistan jointly launched a campaign, ‘Save a Child a Minute,’ on December 8 with the aim to stop deaths among children from diarrhoea, by empowering women and creating wealth for local communities. The organisations have worked together to design and test a new approach to reduce the incidence of diarrhoea among children under the age of five by improving the health, hygiene and sanitation conditions. According to the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey report of 2013, diarrhoea is the second leading cause of deaths among children under the age of five and 53,000 children die annually in Pakistan because of the disease. In the pilot phase of the campaign, RB and Plan will cover 600 households in Dhori village, Sargodha. The campaign will then be scaled up nationally by the two organisations, in coordination with the federal and provincial governments to support the Government’s Vision 2025 project.
