CBC public meeting on Gizri flyover postponed

Cantonment Board Clifton postpones Jan 15 meeting upon request of DHA.

KARACHI: A public meeting scheduled for January 15 by the Cantonment Board Clifton  (CBC) has been postponed by a two member-bench, headed by Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany, upon the request of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Anisa Farooqui, a resident of Plot No. 4 on Khayaban-e-Hafiz, DHA, requested the court to change the status of the land situated near the Gizri Flyover.

The construction of the flyover has changed the condition of the area and the plots affected by the construction  should be declared commercial.

On Monday, the CBC’s lawyers informed the court that they have published an advertisement in newspapers and objections will be heard on January 15 during an open hearing.

However, DHA filed a petition that says that such decision can only be taken by DHA and also requested the court to stop Cantonment Board from hearing complaints on January 15.
