LANDIKOTAL:

A minor was crushed to death by a vehicle of the khasadar force while his friend was critically injured in Landikotal on Saturday. An insider privy to the matter told The Express Tribune, Faizan and Mujeebur Rehman, who were both seven years old, were standing on the pavement at Wali Khel, when the incident occurred. “The vehicle was travelling from Landikotal to Peshawar and was overspeeding,” he said.

“As a result, Faizan lost his life while Mujeebur Rehman was wounded.” The driver managed to escape the scene. The injured was shifted to Agency Headquarters Hospital.

Following the incident, Faizan’s family held a protest and blocked many roads for traffic. Assistant Political Agent Muhammad Nasir Khan took notice of the situation and sent a political tehsildar to negotiate with the family. According to the deceased’s family, they had taken to the streets to raise a voice against the failure to find the culprits. The demonstration was subsequently called off after officials of the political administration and naib tehsildar reached an agreement with the protesters.
