SUKKUR: The Shikarpur police raided on Saturday different villages near Khanpur and arrested seven alleged terrorists. The police also recovered arms and more than 100 kilogrammes of explosives from their possession.

A heavy contingent of Shikarpur police raided different villages near Khanpur and, during house-to-house search, arrested seven suspected terrorists and recovered arms and ammunitions.

Six of the arrested were identified as Akram Arain, Abdul Aziz Shaikh, Abdul Ghani Brohi, Siraj Ahmed Brohi, Muhammad Din Brohi and Siraj Langah.

Talking to The Express Tribune, the acting SSP of Shikarpur, Masood Bangash, confirmed the arrests of the terrorists and said that they were the facilitators of the culprits involved in bomb blasts in Shikarpur and Jacobabad and were wanted in many cases of heinous crimes. He further said that all of them are affiliated with banned outfits. Further investigations are under way, he added.

Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts have remained the target of the terrorists since many years and the most horrifying attack was carried out in Imambargah Karbala Maula in Shikarpur, in which 60 persons were killed and more than 20 were injured, on December 31 last year.

Before this, an attack was carried out in Dargah Hajan Shah Ji Mari in Shikarpur, in which Saen Hajan Shah and others were killed and many were injured.
