Festivities: Eid Miladun Nabi celebrated across K-P amid lights, colour

Processions taken out all over province conclude peacefully

The province was a sea of colour and celebration as Muslims in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa celebrated Eid Miladun Nabi on 12 Rabiul Awwal which fell on Thursday. The day concluded peacefully and no untoward incidents were reported.


In Peshawar, government offices, streets and mosques were illuminated and processions were taken out across the city.

These included the ones taken out from Sikandar Pura, Qissa Khwani, Saddar, Kohati, Gulbahar and other areas to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Those who spoke to participants shed light on the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh).

They called on people to lead their lives based on the path shown by Quran and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Mosques around the city, Qila Bala Hissar and other buildings were illuminated on the occasion. Prayers were held for peace and harmony in the region and prosperity in the country. Milads were also arranged at various mosques.

Districts celebrate

In Mardan, Eid Miladun Nabi was celebrated with the usual zeal and fervour. A long procession was held under the supervision of Maulana Muhammad Younas in Shako Pul area. It crossed its designated routes before concluding at Kachehri Chowk. Mosques and other buildings were decorated in the area and the processions were followed by the distribution of food and sweets.

In Pabbi, the procession was held at Daag Ismail Khel and chaired by Pir Rehmat Kareem. It was supervised by Pir Said Hussain Maulana Ikramullah Kareema.

A large number of people recited naats and held banners to show their reverence for the Prophet (pbuh). The procession ended at Pabbi Bazaar after crossing different routes.

Speaking to participants, Maulana Kareema said the day played an important role as the Prophet (pbuh) was responsible for bringing people out of the dark and to the light of Islam.

Meanwhile, in Charsadda, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl arranged a Quran Khwani at the residence of the party’s district spokesperson Attaullah Khan. JUI-F district ameer Maulana Muhammad Hashim Khanwas was also present. Another event was held at Darul Uloomia Islamia in Charsadda where MNA Maulana Said Gohar Shah stressed there was no connection between seminaries and terrorism. Charsadda DC Tahir Zafar Abbasi, district nazim Fahad Riaz Khan, tehsil nazim Khalil Basheer Khan Umarzai and former MNA Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Sadiq were also present.

In Lakki Marwat, the procession concluded amid tight security. SP Investigation Toheed Khan Gandapur, SHO Arshad Khan and City Police Incharge Saboor Khan followed the procession for security reasons. The procession started from Jamia Masjid Baghban under the supervision of Pir Saifuddin Akmal Sultan. It passed through the routes of Mela Mandi Bazaar and Zargaran Bazaar and ended at Meena Khel Bazaar. Maulana Ghulam Ali addressed the participants along with district nazim Ishfaq Ahmed Khan.

Also, 12 Rabiul Awwal processions were taken out in the three districts of Haripur, Abbottabad, and Mansehra. The main procession was joined by smaller ones. One of them started from Madni Masjid, Karimpura and the participants went back after the procession. They marched through designated routes in the city and some processions were also taken out in Havelian and Sultanpur and these joined the main procession. In Mansehra, the main procession started from Jamia Masjid Noor Mufti Abad and culminated on College Road. Milad processions were also taken out in Oghi, Balakot, Shinkiari, Garhi Habibullah and Kaghan.
