PESHAWAR: Town-I council and Town-III council in the city are trying to determine which property belongs to which council so as to collect revenue.

Insiders familiar with the matter told The Express Tribune, a conflict on budget between Town-I council and city district council was already going on when Town-III council raised its rift with Town-I council.

Town-III nazim Muhammad Ali told The Express Tribune Town-I violated the K-P Local Government Act 2013, wherein it states that revenue generated from land, assets and liabilities will be given to the town within which the property is geographically located. He said Karkhano Bus Terminal, which is an industrial area, Kohat Bus Terminal and the terminal situated on Ring Road belonged to Town-III. However, funds have not been transferred to the council’s account yet.

“We will collectively resign if revenue from our assets in Town-III is not transferred,” a Town-III council member said. Town-III council convener Abdul Wahab told The Express Tribune they will raise the issue with Town-I council nazim and will resolve the matter soon.

Another Town-III council member Matiur Rehman said seven months have passed and the provincial government has not determined the revenue towns in Peshawar.
