Self-sustainability: Tribespeople to get credit lines

Preference will be given to women while sanctioning loans in order to enable them to contribute to society

K-P Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan has announced interest-free loans will be provided to tribespeople in Fata under a project worth Rs1.25 billion. “The loan will help promote commerce and industry, and would enable people to earn an honourable living by running their own businesses,” he said. The K-P governor expressed these views while inaugurating the multi-billion project “Governor K-P Interest-Free Loan for Fata” in Ghallanai, Mohmand Agency. The project was launched in collaboration with microfinance organisation Akhuwat to help reconstruction and rehabilitation of the tribespeople. Sardar Mehtab also distributed cheques worth Rs3 million among deserving people and said, “Preference will be given to women while sanctioning loans in order to enable them to contribute to society.” He added, “Families in need will get loans till June next year.”
