
Electing to bat first, Brisbane were restricted to 180 in their allotted 20 overs as Xavier Doherty claimed two scalps while Chris Termain, Nathan Rimmington and Dwayne Bravo took one wicket each.

In reply, skipper Finch and opening partner Chris Gayle made life agonising for the home side’s bowlers as the former smashed six boundaries and three sixes in his 45-ball 65-run knock, while the latter registered two fours and as many sixes before being dismissed by Mark Steketee in the fifth over on 23. With the big West Indian dismissed, the home side would have hoped to slow down the visitors’ romp, but that was not to be.
White came on to bat next and hit the bowlers for four boundaries and a six before being dismissed on 55 in the 17th over.
