LAHORE: According to the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bahawalpur, a large number of women have now joined gangs involved in abduction for ransom. He said that after residing for some time with wealthy men across the country, they would later con the men into coming to Aubado and Ghotki. In fact, most kidnapped victims reached there of their free will after being lured by “romantic calls” from girls, the RPO said.

The RPO Bahawalpur reached Rahim Yar Khan on Friday and after presiding over a meeting with the DPO and other police officers, he also met local representatives and assured them that a massive operation will be launched soon.

Protestors will observe a complete strike from January 7 to 13, during Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s tour of the district. The RPO clarified to the delegation that there were only 12 cases of abduction for ransom reported in the last five months which occurred in the jurisdiction of Rahim Yar Khan district, while more than one hundred people had reportedly returned to their homes after having paid ransom.
