LAHORE: The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) on Monday called off a strike, scheduled for December 15, following successful negotiations with the authorities regarding their service structure. APCA president Haji Irshad told The Express Tribune the chief secretary had invited the association leaders to talks. The chief secretary has approved our charter of demands and forwarded it to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for approval, Irshad said. The APCA president said the clerks had also agreed to call off the strike in view of Eid Miladun Nabi and the anniversary of Army Public School students slain in a terrorist attack in December last year. He said the APCA would again resort to protest if the government did not issue a notification confirming that their demands had been met. Irshad said, “If the government accepts our demands and issues a notification, we will hold a rally in Lahore to praise the move. And if they don’t, we will rally to protest against the government.”
