PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Fashion Design and Arts Council was formally inaugurated during a ceremony held at a hotel in the city on Sunday. A large number of people associated with the fashion industry, including model and talent agent Natasha Hussain were present.

Muhammad Waqas Ahmad Khan, president of the council, said it has been functional in K-P since 2009 and has planned countless events in the province.

“However, it has not been formally launched over the past six years,” he said. Muhammad Waqas said the council will provide a platform for designers, hairstylists and other fashion artists to promote their work internationally. “It will also help strengthen relation between the local and international fashion communities,” he said.

According to Waqas, efforts are afoot to hold a fashion week in Peshawar. “The event will take place in February,” he said. “We have already started preparing for it. I request fashion designers to participate in the show.”  Speaking on the occasion, Natasha drew attention to the council’s activities and vowed to support the initiative at all costs.

“I will provide all possible assistance for the activities of the council,” she said. Zeek Afridi, a Pashto singer who also runs a production house, said he will provide a range of facilities to the council free-of-cost.
