
Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit said that he was hopeful that India and Pakistan would meet in the finals of the ICC World T20 in Kolkata on April 3 next year. Speaking to India Today’s Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai in Agenda Aaj Tak, Basit said that he looked forward to the Indo-Pak bilateral cricket series, to which the Indian government was yet to give a green signal.

“I hope both teams (India and Pakistan) will be playing in the finals,” Basit said.
“We expect that there will be positive response. The cricket series might just help in improving the bilateral ties,” he added.
India will be hosting the sixth edition of the global T20 event starting March 8.

On the bilateral ties, the commissioner said that Dawood Ibrahim, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and Hafiz Saeed were not the main cause of tension between the two nations.
