Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD) Peshawar marked its golden jubilee through a three-day celebration, which began on December 3 and concluded on Sunday.
The event was attended by a large number of doctors and students. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Complaint and Redressal Cell Chairman Dilroz Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.
On the final day of the event, doctors held a series of seminars to raise awareness about oral diseases, and suggest possible cures and preventative measures.
Latest dental instruments were also put on display and participants were encouraged to get a dental check-up.
As the event drew to a close, the chief guest distributed shields to doctors who had shown a sustained commitment to their profession.
KCD was established in 1964 after the former principal of Montmorency College of Dentistry Lahore, Dr Hassan Raza Shah, proposed the idea of establishing a dental college.
The dentistry department was formally inaugurated by the then minister for health Begum Mahmuda Salim on October 1, 1964. Professor Dr Ahmad Iqbal was the founding chairman of the department.
