High-level meeting: Security for polio workers discussed

PESHAWAR:

A meeting was held on Friday at Civil Secretariat Peshawar, which was attended by high-ranking officials and chaired by K-P Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan. The participants at the meeting prayed for the head of Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) Dr Yaqoob, who was shot dead on November 30 while on his way home. It was decided at the meeting that foolproof security will be provided to all officials working to eradicate the poliovirus.

Another high-level meeting will be held on December 7, 2015 to discuss security measures in detail. An insider familiar with the matter told The Express Tribune this meeting will be attended by members of law-enforcement agencies where they will discuss the loopholes and threat to polio workers.
