The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be a corruption-free project and fate changer for Pakistan, said Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal.
“There is zero chance of corruption in the project since $40 billion of the total $46 billion would be invested in the power sector through private investors and it would need to get its return on investment,” he said talking to a private news channel.
“The remaining $6 billion would come under concessional financing from the Chinese government,” he said, adding that China would nominate a panel of three reputed companies for the decision. He said there would be bidding among the three companies and the lowest bidder would be awarded the contract.
Replying to a question, he said national institutions had fixed tariffs for investment in different energy projects including coal, hydel and solar in the country’s energy policy.
