Doctors from the tribal belt have urged Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to establish polling stations at all agency headquarters hospitals for upcoming elections for members of its council.
This was announced by Doctor Khyal Rehman Afridi – a candidate for the general seat of FATA Friends Forum (FFF) – during a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday. The polls have been scheduled for December 5 following directives from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
“Polling stations have been set up in settled areas,” he said. “This will not allow a majority of doctors to cast their votes.” Afridi added, “We urge PMDC to establish polling stations at all agency headquarters hospitals to ensure all doctors can vote without facing any difficulties.” He also appealed to doctors to cast their vote to select members of the council. “We chose FFF as a platform to launch our campaign as it is an apolitical forum,” he said.
